Services for Parents & Children

Trained in Attachment-Based Family Therapy and Synergetic Play Therapy, Brian's experience with parent-child dynamics and family systems leads him to be sought out by families seeking support for parents and children.

My work with children begins with an intake session with the adults caring for the child. In the initial intake we will review the child's history, discuss emotional developmental markers and the brain/body connection that might be underneath their symptoms, as well as providing real-time tool and strategies that you can implement immediately after the session. I also follow up with PDF handouts that highlight the material discussed. The foundation of my approach is rooted in the latest scientific research from the fields of interpersonal neurobiology, polyvagal theory, somatic psychology, and modern child development. I do the research and reading so you don't have to.

Support for Parents

I approach my work with children from a family systems lens, meaning that I collaborate with the adults in the child's life to help support meaningful change. This often includes individual appointments with parents and/or caregivers to provide you with the tools to help support our work outside of session.

Using Minecraft in Play Therapy

Minecraft is a dynamic video game that is similar to the appeal of playing with LEGO but for the modern era. Minecraft encourages all of the foundations of healthy therapeutic play. When used in a clinical therapy session (whether individually or with a group) the player has an experience that is different than playing with a friend or family member.

Being immersed in the world of Minecraft exposes the player to therapeutic, clinical dynamics such as:

  • Emotional Regulation

  • Distress Tolerance

  • Collaborative Play

  • Healthy Competitive Play

  • Turn Taking

  • Compromise

  • Planning

  • Time Management

Please reach out to discuss the myriad ways Minecraft therapy has helped patients in my practice with:

  • Grief and loss

  • Traumatic Events

  • Behavioral Challenges

  • Screen Addiction

  • Identity and Self-esteem

  • and of course, safe and dependable fun with a trusted professional in a contained environment

Supporting Family Relationships

Trained in Attachment Based Family Therapy, I can provide individual psychotherapy or family-systems based support depending on the specific needs of each patient. Teens appreciate my "pop cultural competency" and ability to connect with current interests.

Sessions are held individually and together as a part of the family system
