FAQs
Before We Begin
Do you work with both children and adults?
Yes, I have specialized training with both. My work with adults focuses on collaborative exploration, getting to the root of one's distress and suffering. With children, I draw from Synergetic Play Therapy, often incorporating games like Minecraft to help with emotional regulation and social skills. While the methods differ, the goal is the same: to work together with curiosity and compassion.
What is Minecraft therapy and how does it work?
Minecraft Therapy is simply a tool used in play therapy. Through the experience of the Minecraft world, we work on goals like managing frustration, expressing emotions, and increasing tolerance for big feelings. Using the game children love as a bridge for communication, I also provide parallel support to parents.
What is your therapeutic approach?
My foundation is in psychodynamic and relational therapy, focusing on understanding deeper patterns within a supportive relationship. With adults, this involves intentional conversation. With children, I adapt this through Synergetic Play Therapy. I also integrate practical tools from mindfulness and nervous system regulation for coping skills.
Do you take insurance?
Yes, I am in-network with Aetna, Anthem BCBS, Cigna, and Kaiser. I also accept HSA and FSA payments for out-of-network appointments.
